Where exactly is Alpha Complex located? I think that's the important question. What if it's only Alpha Complex from the inside? What if, from the outside, it's merely Alpha Block?

I mean, it's not like Dredd hasn't encountered completely shut-off blocks before. Alpha Complex is merely the largest - and most likely the oldest - of them. One of the very first arcologies, and probably the first successful one, Alpha Complex has deteriorated from the shining example of social progress that it once was. Corrupted from within by survivalist lunatics and from without by social and software engineering hackers, Alpha Complex has fallen into the oppressive state that it is today.

Mega City One is, after all, a city that encompasses pretty much the entire Eastern seaboard of the old United States, has clearly grown to engulf Alpha Complex, building around it, past it, and most likely, on top of it. Every so often, the Computer sends a bunch of Troubleshooters out. Some of them exit on the side of Alpha Complex that pokes out of Mega City One, into the Cursed Earth itself, as seen in the Paranoia adventure Yellow Clearance Black Box Blues.

But sooner or later, some of them are going to emerge on the city side. Maybe they already have, and the Judges have booked them for vagrancy or some other crime, and dumped them in iso-cubes. Or maybe this group of Troubleshooters is the first to emerge.

How will the Judges react to this new and lawless state in their very midst? Will they make war - or make allies? The Computer could be a powerful resource in the battle to keep the streets safe and crime-free - but would the Judges submit to it?

To make things even more confusing, setting the whole thing in Post-Reboot Alpha Complex might mean that the Troubleshooters can't even be sure at which point they left the Complex and entered Mega City One.

One thing's for sure: it'll be good for a laugh.
